IMPRA Jazz Festival 2022- Stockholms gender inclusive Jazzfestival!

IMPRA continues to develop its organization during 2022 with the second rendition of IMPRA Jazz Festival! The festival will take place in Stockholm at Fasching the 27th of August.

Since 2006, IMPRA has supported and highlighted musicians who identify themselves as women, transgender and non-binary and who are active in jazz and improvisational music. This year IMPRA builds on the success from last year's festival with multidisciplinary artforms.

"A festival like this is needed to show both young aspiring musicians and people in the industry that there are an incredible number of professional female, transgender and non-binary musicians out there. That the male genius is often used as a yardstick is still not uncommon today and when we look at the statistics in the organization we see an unequal distribution in the jazz festivals that exist in Sweden." - Sofia Lärkfors, IMPRA Jazz Festival Project Manager.

IMPRA will be collaborating with their sister organization from the UK, Women In Jazz. In the UK, only 5% of jazz musicians identify themselves as women, something that Women in Jazz are here to change! As a part of this collaboration one of the founders of Women In Jazz will participate in the panel discussion.

“The aim of IMPRA Jazz festival is to showcase the diversity of the jazz scene. We are therefore delighted that this year we have developed the festival to include multidisciplinary art forms in order to show a more artistic width. New this year is that we have invited DJ Smiling Lis to close the Saturday night. We are really looking forward to this year's edition of the festival which will offer a fantastic line-up and interesting talks.” - Linnea Sällqvist, IMPRA Jazz Festival Coordinator.

The line-up for the festival will consist of national and international acts such as Silent Fires (IT/NO) and Dj Smiling Lis (SWE/UK) with more to be announced.

Check IMPRA's social media channels and website www.impra.se for continuous updates and write down the 27th of August for one of the summer's amazing live experiences.
