SILENT FIRES

Silent Fires is a Norwegian-Italian electroacoustic ensemble based in Oslo, initiated by Alessandro Sgobbio (piano, compositions), and is also with Hilde Marie Holsen (trumpet, effects), Håkon Aase (violin), Karoline Wallace (vocals) and Synne Garvik (dance). Music and lyrics - in English, Italian and Norwegian - are written by Sgobbio, and deal with spirituality in a broader sense. The musical result is a dialogue between melodic fragments of various prayers, acoustically silent and electronic pieces, in both strict and loose forms where the musicians through experimentation and improvisation have room to comment on the composed structures.
Silent Fires was started in 2016, and the ensemble has since played several concerts in Italy, France, Germany, Portugal and Norway. On Friday 6 December 2019, the quartet released the album Forests with AMP Records, "a very exciting and different musical excursion with very talented people and a wonderful collective." (Tor Hammerø, Nettavisen).
