Anne Marte Eggen is a bassist and composer based in Malmö. She leads the band We Float where she plays bass, composes and writes lyrics. In 2018, the group was awarded the Swedish Radio P2 Jazzkatten award for group of the year. The band has released three albums and toured both in Scandinavia and Germany. Anne Marte plays in a number of different groups and constellations and has a penchant for original music. Among the groups she is in are Cure-a-Phobia, Ljom, Ellen Pettersson, Eka Trio, Lage Nordling Electric Ensemble and Thymeshift United. “Underneath and in the middle of it all is the bloodstream, which provides oxygen and nourishment to the musical body. That is Eggen's bass. Fascinating, downright remarkable. I had to stop and rewind the CD, listen to her bass playing a special time. Eggen has written herself into the music. She takes her place but without taking her place from the others. She bubbles electrically and whispers acoustically. Regardless, she plays in the center but without dominating.”
