A På Jam evening looks like this: It starts with a phenomenal band from somewhere in the world playing and warming up the stage. Then you are free to jump on stage and do your tricks. Bring the saxophone, the drums, the laptop, the vocal cords or whatever you play and come and create sweet music with us! If you're not playing, just come there and drink some beer, have a glass of wine or simply lose yourself in the music. In short – first concert, then jam!

LUPiNO LiVE #3 proudly presents HANNA PAULSBERG (pictured) CONCEPT and LENA SWANBERG!
Location -> South Bar
Time -> 6/12 at 19.00
Entrance -> FREE!
*****
HANNA PAULSBERG CONCEPT is one of Norway's brightest jazz bands. They offer strong, melodic compositions with great improvisational freedom. In 2011, the quartet won the "Young Nordic Jazz Comets" AND the "Trondheim Jazzfest Young Talent Award." In autumn 2012, the critically acclaimed debut album "Waltz for Lilli" was released on Øra Fonogram.

Hanna Paulsberg – Saxophone
Trygve Fiske – Double bass
Andreas Bye – Drums
Oscar Grönberg – Piano

www.hannapaulsberg.com

"From their first notes they impressed with their confidence and natural sense of pacing and modulation. There was a sensitivity and a close interconnectedness binding the group and a feeling that they were fast outgrowing their apprenticeship in the shadow of their heroes.” London Jazz

*****

LENA SWANBERG is one of our finest singers, with a truly unique and fantastic sound. The debut album "The art of staying young and unhurt" was released in autumn 2012 and during the evening she offers an intimate concert together with JOEL SAHLIN.

Lena Swanberg – Vocals
Joel Sahlin – Guitar

www.lenaswanberg.com

"Lena Swanberg's background is in the jazz scene. The songs on the debut album move between dramatic pop, bluesy moods, and fantasy-like soundscapes, all rooted in the singer-songwriter genre. Some harmonies lean towards pop music while others towards jazz and blues. Sometimes there are mystical subtleties that lead one to think of Nina Simone if she would be a 29 year old Swedish girl.” Diesel Music

PREMIERE - IMPRA GOLD
STATUE.jpg
2012.11.21
For the first time ever(!) the award IMPRA GOLD has been awarded! The prize, which is aimed at organizers, received many fine applications and finally the winner was:

VÄNERSBORG'S MUSIC ASSOCIATION

Justification:
Because they push the issue of an equal musical life with great enthusiasm and consciously, purposefully demonstrate the positive effects that come from it. With long-term work, they have shown year after year that they really want to change something. They are a role model for many other music associations and jazz clubs that show that equality work equals quality and that you can change a lot if you just want to.

On November 29, this will be celebrated in Vänersborg in the Festival Hall at Folkets Hus, when there will also be a concert by Karolina Vucidolac & Nosso Trio. Click HERE to take a look at Vänersborgs Musikförening's website!
The municipality of Vänersborg has also been named jazz municipality of the year 2012.

The prize was awarded on November 13 at Fasching in Stockholm during P2's annual distribution of the Jazzkatten (see HERE who won those prizes) and was recognized the following day in the Kaleidoscope program on P2.

LUPiNO LiVE #2 -> Maria João & Mário Laginha + Sousou & Maher Cissoko -> Oct 30 at Kulturhuset

Playful, masterful, experimental and lively are some of the descriptions made about the duo's music. Jazz is the foundation, but there are influences from African, Brazilian, Indian and Portuguese music as well as other genres. The duo holds a special position in Portuguese music as one of the most original and long-lasting musical collaborations. After 25 years together, Maria João, voice, and Mário Laginha, piano, have developed their own sound and melodic language with an almost telepathic interplay. Their distinctive sound has taken them to stages and to the major jazz festivals worldwide. The last time we heard them in Sweden was in the Kulturhuset in 2004. Now we have the pleasure of once again inviting this fantastic duo!

SOUSOU & MAHER CISSOKO

The evening begins with Sousou and Maher Cissoko. He comes from a traditional griot family in southern Senegal and she from a musician family in Scania. Together they give their personal interpretation of the West African musical treasure with Swedish elements and

LUPiNO LiVE autumn premiere Oct 4 -> Jokrima Trio + Huntress Bow
HUNTRESS1.jpg
2012.09.12

LUPiNO LiVE has its autumn premiere with a real highlight evening at Teaterstudio Lederman during the Stockholm Jazz Festival! During the evening, there are two live acts, a DJ and happenings.

Huntress Bow
Mariam Wallentin – drums and vocals
Lindha Kallerdahl – bass and vocals

Genre: Garage blues-Freeform-Kristall.

Huntress Bow creates heavy, beautiful and dirty music. A big warm bass, dirty drums and two peculiar voices with the courage and power in the focus of the creation. And energy, playfulness. Self-composed songs where improvisation shows the way forward. Huntress Bow is a dark sky with a bright, radiant opening.

Jokrima Trio
Marilyn Mazur: Percussion
Josefine Cronholm: Vocals
Krister Jonsson: Guitar

The trio is based on Marilyn's compositions, but all three contribute with lyrics and music. The expression is freely fable and collective, and the music is poetic with rhythmic and energetic elements. Marilyn Mazur was born in New York but moved to Denmark at the age of six. She is a world-leading percussionist who has played with, among others, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter and Jan Garbarek, and together with Josefine Cronholm and Krister Jonsson, she will contribute to creating a magical evening at TeaterStudio Lederman!

LUPiNO Live Summer at the Bucky Dome
BUCKY.jpg
2012.07.03

In August, LUPiNO LiVE starts up again by offering no less than five lunchtime concerts! The venue is Bucky Dome on Skeppsholmen and the concerts always start at 1pm. So get there and take the opportunity to make something extra out of your August lunch!

AUGUST 1 AT 1 PM: Sanna Sikborn Erixon

Sanna Sikborn Erixon and Rasmus Lindelöw, a duo that plays finely tuned compositions. Summer meeting is promised!

AUGUST 8 AT 1 PM: Sarah Riedel, Carl Svensson and Viktor Skokic

For the ninth year in a row, the trio headed by Grammy-nominated singer Sarah Riedel embarks on a summer tour. The group plays lyrical jazz with a strong foundation in the song. Sarah Riedel's vocals, Viktor Skokic's double bass and Carl Svensson's acoustic guitar together give the music a distinctive sound. The repertoire contains originals by the trio's members, but also pieces by e.g. Kurt Weill and Bob Dylan.

AUGUST 15 AT 1 PM: Carolina Wallin Pérez

Carolina Wallin Pérez, current with the new record Where we once were. An album full of own material, but also collaborations with talented songwriters such as Andreas Mattsson, Ludwig Bell and Fredrik Okazaki. For the audience, this means that we get to see her in a new role, but we are not dealing with a novice (Carolina has been writing songs for over ten years).

The song Sanning was performed by Carolina in Melodifestivalen in front of 3.3 million television viewers. On the last disc, Pearls and Swine (2009), Carolina rock group Kent's songs were transformed into soft summer songs. Carolina's version of Kent's Without Your Breath has been played more than 430,000 times on YouTube and is high on the wedding wish list. In Bucky Dome we get to hear the new songs stripped down and in a smaller format.

Frida Augustsson Trio offers heartfelt and flourishing jazz pop. The music is written by Frida Augustsson.

AUGUST 29 AT 1 PM: Lisa Bodelius Quartet

Lisa Bodelius is a jazz trombonist on the rise! Last year she received the prestigious scholarship from Fasching's friends and formed the Lisa Bodelius Quartet which consists of Lisa Bodelius (trombone), Edvin Nahlin (piano), Max Thornberg (bass) and Gustav Nahlin (drums). The band got off to a flying start with an attention-grabbing gig at Sthlm Jazzfest 2011.

"To be in the middle of the meeting between my music and the band's four personal and enterprising voices is a completely magical feeling," says Lisa Bodelius.

2012.03.10
Check out this year's edition of the Youth Jazz Festival! This year they are investing extra in women in jazz. As everyone should bet on, they work to give our young musicians good role models. This year we see, among others, Ingrid Jensen and Karin Hammar among the festival's artists and lecturers. Together with Swedish Jazz, IMPRA has organized a lecture for all educators and parents who are present. Josef Eriksson from Sundsvall's Culture School has several years of experience working with gender issues and equality in his workplace and will share his knowledge on Saturday, March 17th from 13:00 to 15:00. IMPRA's chairman Anna Lundqvist will also be there to participate in the panel debate that follows the lecture.www.youthjazzfestival.se

Premier Klubb Kom In - Intone

The group "Intone" was formed in Gothenburg in the fall of 2010. The members all have a connection to the University of Theater and Music in Gothenburg and it was in connection with the school that the group emerged.
The compositions written by the members themselves have clear influences of jazz, free improvisation but also jungle/drum n'bass grooves and essences of pop - improvised music is not locked in itself but can be played in many genres which "Intone" has taken into account on.
The group consists of Eric Arellano saxophone, Oskar Stenmark trumpet, Per Orvang guitar, Beate Wiesinger bass and Johan Birgenius on drums.
